For all of our friends and clients that use a Mac computer, be sure to update your machine. There is a MAJOR security flaw that is now widely known. Apple just released a fix but it’s up to you to update your machine, and we STRONGLY recommend you do this otherwise you are leaving your machine wide open to be hacked or used without your permission.

Apple is flat out urging customers to “INSTALL THIS UPDATE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE”. It is even in BOLDED text everywhere you look.  Apple claims that if you are running High Sierra or later, your system “SHOULD” auto-update – but the onus is on you to do the update – so regardless of which version of MacOS you run, it’s a good idea to do the update right away.

Good news is that the update is easy – just open the MacApp store and you should see the update available for download. If it doesn’t, check for an update. It should be there.

There is one thing you need to know before you do the update… some machines are reporting that connecting to file shares (or even authenticating to a file share) can be broken.  Good news is that Apple has a very EASY quick-step to fix this… check out their support page for the one line of text you need to copy and paste to fix this.

If you need help with the process, let us know – we’re happy to help.
